Team 4th at Regional Championships

Unlike most clubs in the region, Recoil Trampoline Club chose a small and selected squad to compete at the Regional Championships held oat Easton College near Norwich last weekend. With an eye towards future athlete development it was determined that the competition did not sit at the right time in the clubs development program to take a large contingent.
With just twelve  performers instead of the usual 40 -50 the club still managed to come a reputable 4th out of 23 teams competing on the day. Each athlete was seeking their own personal best performance to assist their own aspirational development program towards higher competition standards than regional especially after the clubs recent international success.
The performance of the day belonged to Melissa Knight who in only her third competition posted personal best scores to win a tough grade at U13G with 22 competitors fighting to win the title of regional champion. She also qualified to the next grade. Daniel Morgan stood out for his calm approach to competing in the U13 boys at E he is still just ten and he pushed the other boys all the way to record a strong score and showed just how valuable it was to compete abroad recently.
Bothers Thomas and Oliver Mitchelmore both gave strong performances coming 2nd & 3rd respectively and set themselves well along the road of this summers training towards higher levels. Also competing with strong routines were Alyssa Prince in 3rd place, Caitlin Ruth confidently in 5th place, Cerys Jones 2nd, Holly Newland in just her second ever competition, Thea Taylor coming 2nd and Thomas Gregory winning the D category at U19 level when he is just 15. Squad coach Debbie Fountain said ‘Though our numbers were much lower than normal we set each competitor a personal target for the day, we wanted them to all to use this competition to set themselves up for a long summer of training focused towards much higher levels than they might compete against here. Our day was a complete success on every level, 4th in the team competition was an amazing result on this basis.”
